Marjorie Perloff has coined the label ‘Unoriginal Genius’, for a postmodern strand in poetry that works largely by citation. If we extend that idea both into the digital era, and into other genres, we see that practices of citing, stealing, appropriating, cutting and pasting, sampling, etc have become commonplace artistic practices – practices that this course wants to not (only) talk about, but actively work with, in different media, formats, etc...
